Fart. The word itself is hilarious. And, somehow perfectly captures the essence of farts sounds which can be made into fart sound effects. The fart sound will always make people laugh of every age, though generally inappropriate. What is it about fart sound effect noise that make folks laugh? Who knows, must be an instinctual thing. Either way, sound designers generally create fart sound effects in three ways. First, though it may be rather disgusting, they literally record actual farting noise to create solid and realistic fart sound effects. Catching oneself right at the moment of farting, however, with all the necessary mics and recording equipment set up, isn't always the easiest option. One needs to be truly in tune with one's system to pull this off. The other two options for creating great fart sound clips are to first, just make them with your mouth. The human mouth can easily mimic good fart sounds for the perfect fart sound effect and many variations can be made. Or, as many of us learned in childhood. Placing one's mouth on the forearm or bicep tightly with mouth open, and blowing hard can create fantastic fart sound effects. These later two options are generally employed when making this rather lewd and often hilarious type of sound effect. Though, there are sound designers out there who are so truly dedicated to their craft that they will actually record their own fart sounds, or even that of a friend or associate who can always be counted on for good, consistent farts. Timing, really, is everything with this one.
